Book Proposal:
Rest Assured Editing provides book proposal and query letter
drafting services for the writer. The editor works with the
author to prepare an effective book proposal or query letter.
Necessary components can include a cover letter, concept, and
marketing strategies. Rest Assured Editing negotiates drafting
and editing charges with the author prior to commencing
services.
Rate range: $50 for editing a draft book proposal to $75-$100
for composing a book proposal “from the ground up.”
Finder’s fee:
When a successful recommendation of a
prospective publisher is made by the copyeditor, the author
agrees to pay a Finder’s Fee. Usually the publisher will have
received, upon the suggestion of the editor, a sample of the MS
and a book proposal or query letter.
Rest Assured Editing Services
charges a $75 finder’s fee.
Acknowledgement:
Included in the editing services is a public acknowledgement for
those services to be made by the author in the published book.
The author agrees to include a statement of appreciation for the
editor’s contributions in the Acknowledgements section of the
book.
Rest Assured Editing does not charge a fee for acknowledgement
of services.

* Per page pricing based on 375-500 words
per page, 1” margins, average editing time about 5 pages/hr.
* Per page rates do not apply to lengthy
works (30 pages or more). Instead, a project rate is negotiated
with the author. Contract requires a retainer fee for a lengthy
work, usually 25% of total cost of editing charges.
